Leicester Tigers – Friday 24th August, 7:45pm – Pre-season Friendly
Details checked on 29th June
Welford Road is about a 10-15 minute walk from Leicester station.
TRAIN: East Midlands Trains run a frequent, direct service from London St Pancras to Leicester; journey times vary from a little over an hour to around 1 hour 30 minutes.
From Reading, travelling via London, the journey time is around 2 hours 30 minutes and it looks to generally be cheaper to purchase separate tickets for Reading to London & London to Leicester, rather than getting a ticket from Reading to Leicester.
Services are also available from Reading using Cross Country Trains via Birmingham or Coventry. Journey times and fares look to be similar, but there are more services to choose from if travelling via London.
A day-trip by train is just about possible – the last train back to London St Pancras leaves Leicester at 9:56pm and gives an ample connection time for a late night service from Paddington back to Reading.
COACH: National Express operates a direct coach service from London Victoria coach station to Leicester coach station – the coach station is about a 25 – 30 minute walk from the ground. Journey times are around 3 hours.
From Reading-Mereoak, there are no direct services, but there are services outward changing at Heathrow and for the return journey changing at London Victoria. Journey times are about 4 hours outwards and 4 hours 45 minutes for the return.
A day-trip by coach is not possible from either London or Reading
CAR: For those driving – see details from the Leicester Tigers’ Website. Please be aware that there is no parking at Welford Road, but the Tigers’ website does give details (including online booking) of nearby parking at the King Power Stadium (LE2 7FL for your SatNav) – about a 10 minute walk from Welford Road and of a Park & Ride service from Enderby which has a drop off point close to the stadium.
TICKETS: Match tickets are available now from the Leicester Tigers Website. Adult prices are £12 (standing) to £15 for all seats.
Note: Matches are Welford Road are often sold out, so it is advisable not to leave it to the last minute to book your match ticket/parking.
