It is great to be writing this after several exciting and entertaining games recently, most of which we have ended up on the winning side.

The style of play we are producing is certainly great to watch. Let us hope that we can reproduce that today against our visitors Worcester Warriors.

Last week the Supporters Club held our first event of 2022 – Past and Present.

Via Zoom we had Barry Everitt, “Barry the Boot”, flyhalf in our Powergen Cup winning side of 2002, and the ever popular Lovejoy Chawatama, who incidentally hopes to be back to full fitness within a couple of weeks.

Lovejoy talked of his move to England from Zimbabwe as a 15 year old, and how he progressed from school club rugby to the professional game. Also how he moved from the back row to the front, and then from loose to tight head prop. In his early days in the professional game his mentor was James Buckland, who many of you will remember played at hooker for Irish for several seasons.

Lovejoy’s great loves outside rugby, apart from his family of course, are cooking and cricket. Maybe we can entice him to cook a BBQ for the supporters club sometime?

On other matters, we have now linked up with a merchandising supplier. We are able to offer our members a selection of LISC branded goods. The website is now live so you are able to order online. Our merchandising partner has some great ideas which we will be adding to the offering in due course.

Visit our website at lisc.uk for details of the new merchandise, and if you are not yet a member then sign up today.

Hope you all enjoy the game.
