The Rams v The Wild Geese
Saturday 22nd December – 2:00pm, Old Bath Road, Sonning.
London Irish do not have a fixture scheduled for the weekend before Christmas, but for those in the Reading / Thames Valley areas, in need of a pre-Christmas festive Rugby fix, why not pop along to Old Bath Road in Sonning to watch The London Irish Wild Geese take on The Rams (formerly known as Redingensians).
The Wild Geese are currently in the relegation zone in National League 2 South and face a tough match against the current league leaders, so we are sure any extra support will be greatly appreciated.
The Rams ground is at Old Bath Road, Sonning is just off the A4 between Reading & Twyford.
There is an hourly bus service from Reading on Arriva Buses route 850 – the nearest bus stop is Hawthorne Way, a few minutes from the ground.
There is also a half hourly service on Reading Buses route 14 (13 for the return to town) to Shepherds Hill Top which is a 20-25 minute walk from the ground or Ravensbourne Drive (which is a minute or 2 closer, but takes the bus longer to get to).
NOTE: Being the last Saturday before Christmas the roads are likely to be very busy, so whether travelling by car or public transport we would advise allowing extra time for your journey.
NOTE: It is uncovered standing on all sides of the pitch, so best to be prepared for whatever weather might do (at the time of posting the long range forecast is for 10 degrees & a 10-15% chance of rain – but it is advisable to check the forecast on matchday).
NOTE: For anyone planning on travelling by train from South West London for this match, there is currently a strike on South Western Railway on Saturday 22nd. On previous strike days the half hourly service between Waterloo & Reading has been maintained, however timetables will only be confirmed a day or 2 in advance.
Adult admission at The Rams is £10 per person which includes parking.
