Seilala Mapusua was born in February 1980 in Moto’otua, Samoa.
Seilala’s early career saw him play for Otago in provincial rugby and the Highlanders in Super Rugby.
He joined London Irish in 2006 and went on to make 126 appearances, scoring 21 tries. Seilala was part of the teams that reached the Heineken Cup Semi- final in 2008 and the Premiership final in 2009.
Seilala won the Professional Rugby Players’ Association Players’ Player of the Year award for the 2008-09 season.
After leaving London Irish at the end of the 2010-11 season, Seilala moved to Japan where he played Kubota Spears for 3 seasons and then moved on to Kamaishi Seawaves.
Seilala has won 26 caps for Samoa (including playing in both the 2007 & 2011 World Cups) and 7 for the Pacific Islands, scoring one try for each (both against Wales at the Millennium stadium).
