Ryan Strudwick was born in August 1974 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Ryan joined London Irish in 1998, having spent the previous season at Harlequins. In his 8 seasons with London Irish, Ryan made 149 appearances in the Premiership.

Ryan captained the London Irish side that beat Northampton Saints to win the Powergen Cup in 2002.

Ryan became a coach at The Sharks in 2010.
